no pain, no gain

i think i forgot (don't know HOW that happened!) to mention that i sliced a piece of my finger while cleaning the fridge for the christmas party on thursday . . . honestly, it is even more graphic than that, but i'm not gonna share the details! (you can thank me later) anyway, it is extremely painful, and is the middle finger of my right hand. then, yesterday, i cut the first finger of my left hand while trying to open a vacuum-packed bag of chicken from costco. SO, fast forward to the afternoon all the way to midnight, i have two throbbing fingers that seem to bang into everything just enough to remind me of the aches and pains, and i HAVE to sew FOUR aprons for my etsy shop customers!! ugh. well, after a few hours at the sewing machine, i needed a break, and although ian (the hubby) was watching the dark knight, i just couldn't sit still long enough to watch, knowing that i had so many things to do and no kids to distract me while doing them. so, i head to my studio and drop this LO. i challenged myself to use buttons, as this was the topic of the simple scrapbooks mag call this week (although, i didn't submit . . . at least not yet! ha ha!). anyway, while i was at JoAnn fabrics earlier that morning, they were having a blowout sale on their buttons (40% OFF!!), so i picked up the sweet vintage button you see in the LO that i thought would go perfectly with the yummy prima paper i used. i also layered some clear bubble tiles over the buttons, but i'm not so sure you can make that out in the photo. anyway, all day long i was itchin' to do a layout with some pretty birds on it, so i HAD to find a way to emboss that little one onto the "W" tag i made with a pink paislee die cut. oh, yeah, and notice all of the stitching? well, that was probably b/c i was feeling a little guilty for scrapping instead of sewing the last 3 aprons i still need to finish! LOL!! anyway, i love the LO and just had to share . . . hopefully it was worth the pain in working these beaten up fingers some more! (ok, they're not THAT bad, i'm just looking for some sympathy! ha ha!) happy sunday!
