of course we can't start the season off without our tree, so here are a few from our trip to home depot to find the perfect tree, and even though it didn't end up being "perfect", it did end up being *just right* . . . which, in my book is even better!

we started off last week at the local college for a Christmas at the Pops concert featuring a musician from the actual Mannheim Steamroller. The kids LOVED it! They ended the concert with an audience sing-along that they just couldn't get enough of! Even Hudson sat there with his mouth open in awe of the whole experience! OH! and did I mention it was FREE!!?! woohooo! (that was the best part!)
later that week we went to the VA Festival of Lights nearby . . . it was (ummmm) "so-so". (in other words, don't waste your $10 on this one! You get a better show driving around neighborhoods looking at the houses all decked out in lights!
Then, for the grand finale, it snowed BIG FAT snowflakes ALL DAY on Saturday (and melted on the roads by Sunday morning so we could still get to church!). Here's a picture of the older 3 all decked out ready to build a snowman . . . truth be told, only Cameron lasted long enough in the cold to start AND finish the snowman!!
(meanwhile, i had a bunch of girlfriends over for a holiday baking party! so much fun with the girls as we whipped out one treat after another while watching the beautiful snowfall outside!! here are some of our goodies!)peppermint bark: (it's SO yummy & SUPER easy!!)

PEPPERMINT BARK recipe:
2 bags of chocolate melting chips/discs (from your fav craft store) melted in the microwave according to the directions on the bag. when melted add 1 Tbsp oil & 1 tsp peppermint extract. Spread onto a baking sheet lined w/parchment paper & sprinkle with crushed up candy canes. refrigerate until it is hard enough for you to break in pieces (about an hour or 2). enjoy!! . . . (especially you: Sasha, Nancy & Megan!! here is the recipe so you can have some every week of December instead of waiting for mine to be delivered to you on Christmas!!)
me & some of the girls making the oreo truffles:

the "official" taste testers!:

all the treats!:

Hope your holiday season is going well so far! love, natasha
